Nicaragua used to be the safest, most peaceful country in all across Latinamerica despite being one of the poorest ones. But things are changing. The pensions reform sparked a wave of protest that are challenging Daniel Ortega’s rule. Ortega and his party, the Sandinista Front of People’s Liberation has been governing Nicaragua, with an iron fist, for more than a decade. And Ortega’s family occupies the highest positions in the Managua’s administration. This includes his wife, Rosario Murillo, who holds the position of Vice President.
In the latest days of 2017, Zimbabwe appeared on the news because a coup d’etat spelled the end of Robert Mugabe’s 37 year long dictatorship.
