Nicaragua used to be the safest, most peaceful country in all across Latinamerica despite being one of the poorest ones. But things are changing. The pensions reform sparked a wave of protest that are challenging Daniel Ortega’s rule. Ortega and his party, the Sandinista Front of People’s Liberation has been governing Nicaragua, with an iron fist, for more than a decade. And Ortega’s family occupies the highest positions in the Managua’s administration. This includes his wife, Rosario Murillo, who holds the position of Vice President.
